Medicare Rebates
(Mental Health Care Plan)

If you're an Australian citizen or permanent resident, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates when accessing therapy with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.

To access Medicare rebates:

• Visit your GP to discuss your mental health concerns

• Obtain a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral

• Ensure your GP sends the referral and MHCP before your first appointment

You're entitled to up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions per calendar year (January–December).

Important: Without a valid referral and MHCP, Medicare rebates cannot be claimed.​
 

Private Health Rebates

Some private health insurance funds provide rebates for counselling sessions with an AMHSW if you have the appropriate level of Extras cover. Rebate amounts vary between providers and cover levels. Please contact your insurer directly to confirm eligibility before your appointment.

Note: You cannot claim both Medicare and private health insurance rebates for the same appointment.

NDIS Clients

Go With That Therapy operates as a non-registered NDIS provider. Clients with self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funding may use their allocated funds for sessions. The number of sessions available depends on your plan goals and budget allocation.
 

Important note about EMDR:
EMDR is not directly funded by the NDIS but may be incorporated when focused on building functional capacity related to psychosocial disability. If you're unsure about your eligibility, please speak with your NDIS Plan Manager or Support Coordinator for guidance on how counselling may be funded under your plan.

Private Appointments
(Self-Referral) 

You do not need a GP referral to book a private session. Many clients choose to self-refer and pay the full fee (with or without private health rebates).
